REIDSVILLE Mary Lee Parrish King, 72, passed away on Thursday afternoon, December 1, 2016, at Wesley Long Hospital.
Mrs. King's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, at Moravia Moravian Church with Rev. Carol Foltz and Rev. Russ Williams, officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard.A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, Mary was born on January 27, 1944. The family later moved to this area and she graduated from Summerfield High School in 1962. She was an active member of Moravia Moravian Church and the Women's Fellowship there. She enjoyed cooking and baking, often times sharing sourdough bread with friends and neighbors. At Moravia, special times were spent making chicken pies. Mary enjoyed life to it's fullest. She enjoyed being a part of the Red Hat Society, traveling with her family, especially trips to Myrtle Beach with the grand and great grandchildren and was a friend to all she met. Most of all, she was a devoted and loving wife and mother.Surviving are her husband of 55 years James M. King of the home; daughters Terri Brown and her husband, Rick, of Dallas, TX, and Annette Legette and her husband, Neal, of Charlotte; sisters Donna Golden and Linda Hildreth both of Greensboro; brothers Randy Parrish of Memphis, TN and Ricky Parrish of Greensboro; 3 grandchildren Brandi Brown, Will Brown, and Neal Legette, Jr.; and 3 great-grandchildren Christian Eagle, Cameron Eagle and Genesis Eagle.She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather Benford and Zelma Parrish.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Moravia Moravian Church, 2920 Oak Ridge Road, Oak Ridge, NC 27310.The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 5 until 7 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Stokesdale.
